I have always enjoyed the freedom of exploration my camera affords me. As a graduation gift, my father bought me a Minolta x700 and encouraged me to shoot. When I decided to try college after a few false starts, I took a Black & White class to get my feet wet on a college campus again. To my surprise, my work was noticed by the professor, and encouraged me further. Since then I have seldom been without a camera (sometimes multiple cameras) and the thought that any day you are alive with a camera in your hands is a Good Day!

So, why Van Tilburg if my name is Root? I am only a recent Root, having a VERY supportive Van Tilburg clan behind me! Since it was my father who put the first camera in my hands (helping me find my wings), I decided to use my maiden name for the business.
